How I was able to get my credit score above 800!

I started on this credit journey not knowing what credit was. I did not know it was important. I did not know that we were rated on it. I did not know it had a big impact on my life. I was born to teenage parents, raised by a loving grandmother. She raised me the best she could, but most of what I learned early in life was school and television. The shows I watched and the classes in school never talked about the use of credit.

I went into a car dealership, at the age of 22, and walked out with a car. I walked out knowing my payment amounts each month, but I had no idea what my interest rate was. My entire life changed when I was 23 years old. I had a dear friend help me learn all about my score, what it meant and what I needed to grow it. I applied for and received my first credit card with a $250 limit. I kept that card for two years. I eventually cancelled that card and applied with another company and received a card with a $750 limit. I did not apply for another or raise the limit on that card for at least 8 years. I started my credit journey with a score of 425 at the age of 23. I worked hard and in three years my score soared to 720. I maintained that score for years. I later realized that I wanted to build equity by owning my own house and a score of 720 was not going to get me where I needed to be so I worked on the score again and it shot up to 800.

How I work on my score is following the steps listed in this credit repair guide. When you follow these steps you will see an increase in your score. It is guaranteed. It is an easy guide to follow and if you do the work you will see an increase.

I am so happy that you are taking the first steps to improve your credit score and your life. I am rooting for you. See you at the finish line.

*update* I eventually went back to look at my rate on my first car purchase and it was 18%. My current cars rate is 3.2%. My current mortgage rate is 3.5%. I am not ashamed of where I have been. It was all lessons, they were hard lessons but lessons nonetheless.
